Letter carving – an English vernacular tradition – visual and factual interest; statements and epitaphs, unusual and eccentric, following the discipline of a craft. Ideas in the garden can come from reveries, from changing seasons, from fortunate coincidences and from the sheer pleasure afforded by plants and the paraphemalia of gardening. In this context I work with natural materials which demand understanding and skill to exploit their latent possibilities. The scope for self expression is boundless.
The nature of my work is the provision of representational art for a year round interest in the garden.
